Aerobic Gymnastics
Sports aerobics is the ability to perform continuous complex and high intensity movement patterns to music. Originated from the traditional aerobic classes, a sports aerobics routine must continuously integrate the performance of physical qualities like coordination, flexibility and strength with the perfectly executed traditional aerobics movements. The formula of this sport is also the combination of perfectly executed difficulty elements with lifts and interactions (for the team categories). The most perfect sports aerobics routine must combine the spectacular showmanship with the most creative and interesting musicality, both combined with the complex aerobics steps combinations, difficulty elements, lifts and interactions (for team categories). All these ingredients in the right proportion will give the most spectacular and interesting sports aerobics routine.
UEG has held only two Sports Aerobics European Championships. The first one in Birmingham 1999 and the second one in Zaragoza 2001. Despite this short European history our champions have shown how creative the sport is becoming and it will continue to grow. It is a beautiful performance of skills with artistic and creative showmanship, which gives us a sport worthy of great things.
The coaches, gymnasts and judges are helping making this sport interesting and fun, not only for themselves but also for the public.
